Our packaging tapes in comparison
All packaging tapes have strong adhesive properties and roll off quietly. Differences can be seen in how easily they roll off and in the thickness of the material. This allows you to select the right tape for the specific application.

Packaging tape – frequently asked questions
Which packaging tape is best suited for parcels?
The most suitable packaging tape for parcels depends on various factors, in particular the weight of the box and the shipping requirements. For most applications in online retail, warehouse logistics, or moving, polypropylene packaging tape is recommended as it offers high tear resistance and is suitable for light and medium-weight cardboard boxes.
Which boxes are suitable for polypropylene packing tape?
Polypropylene packing tape is suitable for sealing light to medium-weight cardboard boxes, such as corrugated cardboard boxes and standard shipping boxes. Its high tear resistance and good adhesive strength ensure reliable sealing for both shipping and long-term storage. The exact load capacity may vary slightly depending on the tape width, adhesive type, and quality. For special requirements, such as very heavy or valuable shipments, it should be checked whether reinforced packing tape is necessary.
Which parcel tape can be unrolled quietly?
Quietly unwinding parcel tape is also referred to as “low noise” and causes only minimal noise when unwinding. This property is achieved through special material compositions and adhesives. Polypropylene parcel tape offers this low-noise unwinding behavior. Our brown and transparent packaging tape is available in a “low noise” version.
Why do you need quiet packing tape?
Quiet packing tapes are used wherever disruptive noises during packaging need to be avoided. They are suitable for work environments with high packaging volumes, such as warehouse logistics, shipping departments, offices, or retail. The low-noise unwinding reduces noise pollution and promotes concentrated work, especially during continuous packaging use.
What is the difference between transparent and brown parcel tape?
Transparent parcel tape and brown parcel tape differ primarily in their color. The choice between the two variants depends on the desired appearance of the packaging.
- Transparent packaging tape is preferred when logos, imprints, or information on the boxes need to remain visible, as it does not cover the surface.
- Brown parcel tape blends in well with classic brown corrugated cardboard boxes and ensures a uniform overall appearance.
There are also differences in material thickness and smoothness when rolling.
Why does packing tape sometimes come off cardboard boxes?
Packaging tape can come loose from cardboard boxes for a variety of reasons. Common causes include unsuitable or contaminated surfaces, for example due to dust, moisture, oil, or other residues that impair the adhesive properties of the tape. Particularly smooth or coated cardboard surfaces can also prevent the tape from adhering properly.
In addition to the cardboard surface, the correct application of the adhesive tape is also crucial for adhesion. The pressure applied during bonding is important here. If the packaging tape is not pressed down sufficiently, there is a risk that it will come off more easily.
Is parcel tape waterproof?
Polypropylene parcel tapes are moisture-resistant and can withstand brief contact with water. They offer protection against splashing water and are sufficiently durable for normal shipping and storage requirements.
Parcel tapes are not suitable for prolonged or heavy exposure to moisture, as this can reduce their adhesive strength and impair their adhesion. For applications requiring permanent protection against water, special tapes that are explicitly labeled as waterproof or weather-resistant should be used.
