Choose direct thermal or thermal transfer labels depending on your application – removable or permanent adhesive.
-
Direct thermal labels do not require a ribbon for printing. In the direct thermal printing process, the label material is in direct contact with the printhead. The printhead generates heat, which activates the coating on the thermal label. A chemical reaction causes the thermal paper to turn black when heated, creating the printed image.
-
Thermal transfer labels have a special coating compatible with thermal transfer printers. This printing process also uses heat, but ribbons are required to transfer the ink onto the label surface.
